Abseiling
What is abseiling?
Rappelling, as it is also known, is the controlled descent of a rope and it's fantastic fun. Slang terms are 'rapping' or 'rap jumping'.
Is it hard to learn?
Like bridgeswinging, abseiling is quite easy to learn. After a few lessons, you'll be slipping down the rope like a spider.
Where will we abseil?
Our NZOIA qualified instructors offer abseiling at 3 sites:
- Paritutu Rock, New Plymouth
For beginners and families, easy access, daily sessions available on request.
- White Cliffs, 50km from New Plymouth
A beautiful, 50m high site. Daily sessions available for groups of ten or more. Transport can be arranged. Bookings essential.
- Mount Taranaki
Many sites around the mountain are suitable for abseiling, from easy to challenging. Learn to abseil in a beautiful environment.
